COMPOSITE

    WHAT ARE COMPOSITE?

A geocomposite is the combination of two or more geosynthetics through heat and/or adhesives, combining their characteristics to produce multifunctional materials that are faster to install than their individual components.

Joining 2 or more geosynthetics to combine their applications into a single material and thus achieve better overall function.

    Functions:

    • Capturing
    • Containment
    • Drainage
    • Filtration
    • Protection
    • Reinforcement
    • Stabilization

    APPLICATIONS

    • Communication Routes: Roads, Highways, Freeways, Railways, Airplane Runways.
    • Sports Fields.
    •Channels.
    • Tunnels.
    • Green Roofs.
    • Retaining Walls.
    • Foundations.
    • Landfills.
    • Final Disposal Sites for Industrial Waste.
    • Leachate Ponds and Pits.

    ADVANTAGES

It replaces and/or reduces the aggregate drainage layer.

    Reduction of material hauling.

    • Reduction of execution time.

    • Easy and fast installation.

Overall, they maintain the same advantages as their individual components, improving execution times and labor costs.

GEORED + GEOTEXTILE (FILTRATION + DRAINAGE)

System consisting of a draining element (geonet) which captures and conveys the water passing through the filtering element (non-woven geotextile), allowing the fluid to pass while retaining fines on one or both sides of the drainage element.

GEOMEMBRANE + GEOTEXTILE (PROTECTION + CONTAINMENT)

System consisting of a containment element (geomembrane) which will contain materials or fluids, while the protective element (non-woven geotextile) provides the geomembrane with greater resistance to puncture, tear propagation, and friction in relation to sliding.

    GEOTEXTILE + GEOGRID (REINFORCEMENT/STABILIZATION + SEPARATION + FILTRATION)

System consisting of a reinforcement element (geogrid) which will work with the soil and/or aggregate, while the filtering and/or separating element (non-woven geotextile) allows the passage of fluid while retaining fines and separating different strata.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    Regulations

Manufacturers and designers adhere to what is established by the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI) in their GRI specifications; GC-8 Determination of the permissible flow rate of a drainage geocomposite.

    • The geonet can range in thickness from 5 to 8.4 mm, and the geotextiles can be 6, 8, or 10 oz on one or both sides of the geonet.
    • The geomembrane can vary in thickness from 0.50 to 2.0 mm, and the geotextiles can be 6, 8, or 10 oz on one or both sides of the geonet.
    • The geogrid can have various strengths, and the geotextile can be 6, 8, or 10 oz on one side of the geonet.
