WHAT ARE EROSION CONTROL BLANKETS?
They are three-dimensional permeable flexible blankets used to prevent soil loss and improve vegetation establishment on slopes and channels.
They act as soil protection against wind and surface runoff erosion. Thanks to their structure, they allow moisture and organic soil to be retained, which will facilitate the development and reinforcement of vegetation.
TYPES OF EROSION CONTROL BLANKETS
There are several types of geotextiles designed for erosion control, and the choice of the appropriate type depends on the specific site conditions and project requirements.
Temporary Erosion Control Blankets
- Temporary flexible and permeable mats, consisting of biodegradable natural fibers held by three-dimensional synthetic meshes or grids, which may or may not be photodegradable.
- Used where vegetation alone should provide sufficient protection once established.
- Made 100% from natural fibers (straw/coconut) or in combination with synthetic fibers.
- Biodegradable and photodegradable.
Permanent Erosion Control Blankets
-
Flexible and permeable permanent polypropylene blankets, consisting of three-dimensional synthetic mesh or grids, designed to be used in conjunction with topsoil and seeds or turf to create durable and strong matrices that can provide nearly double the erosion protection of regular turf.
-
Made with permanent synthetic fibers
-
Flat or three-dimensional surface
APPLICATIONS OF EROSION CONTROL BLANKETS
- Slopes on roads, highways, freeways, and railways
- Retaining walls
- Vegetation on sports fields
- Channels Green roofs
- Protection against landslides and erosion on slopes
- Coverings in landfills and final disposal sites for industrial waste
- Revegetation of slopes and channels Improvement of urban aesthetics
ADVANTAGES OF EROSION CONTROL BLANKETS
- Restoration of areas damaged by erosion in a shorter time. Conservation and reinforcement of vegetation on slopes that are attacked by wind and/or water.
- Aesthetic improvement of constructions towards a more ecological and healthier view.
- Lower maintenance of communication routes (roads, paths, highways, railways).
